Jacks Riffle in the Winter

This picture reveals the bluff which is not visible in the "leaved out" months. This hole is  beautiful refuge for large Rainbow and Brown trout.

Northern Cardinal January 1, 2009

Taken with Canon EOS 5D and a 200mm F2.8 lens with a 1.4x TC (280mm). Although this picture was taken in Kirkwood, MO, at my home, the Northern Cardinal is one of those common year-round birds in Missouri and especially at River of Life Farm, that you can always see or hear. Happy New Year !!

September Morning at Whispering Pines Cabin

at ROLF; with the dawning sun filtering through the pine trees. There was fog in the valley and a pine tar aroma penetrated the cabin. There are few birds to hear by the end of September but the woodpeckers were busy pounding nuts into crevices in almost every tree for a long winter store. In August and September the the North Fork's narrow valleys, dense fog is quite common until the sun and morning breezes move it away about 9-10 AM. Taken with Canon EOS 5D. One near dawn and one 30 minutes after sun-up.
