This bird was the first I have seen since late November - early December, when they were migrating south. It is eating maple sap from a hard Maple tree with woodpecker holes leaking the sap out on warm sunny days.

- I have spent 45+ years of my life "with wet tennis shoes" around on or near Missouri streams. I am fascinated by the wildlife, love catch and release fly-fishing, canoeing, bird-watching, studying natural flowers and trees.
